A Riverton teenager died over Labor Day weekend when the car he was traveling in rolled during an apparent street race, the Wyoming Highway Patrol reported.

Titus L. Amos, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene of the Saturday night crash, which happened just east of Riverton. Two other people in the car - Prisciliano Vargas, 15, and Ricardo Martinez, 21 - suffered injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

Troopers suspect the trio were riding in a 2005 Ford Crown Vic that was racing west along State Highway 136 with two other cars.

The Crown Vic was traveling in the eastbound lane when it swerved back into the correct lane. It went off the highway and through a fence before rolling an unknown number of times.

Two people were thrown from the Crown Vic. A third occupant was partially ejected.

Investigators haven't determined whether Amos, Vargas or Martinez was the person who was partially ejected from the car. The other racers helped remove that person from the wreckage, but fled before authorities arrived on scene.

Troopers don't know yet who was driving the Crown Vic at the time it crashed. They are investigating alcohol use and speeding as possible factors in the wreck.

None of the car's occupants was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.

Amos was the first reported Wyoming highway death over the holiday weekend.
