A Casper man admitted Wednesday to participating in an April shooting and car chase.

Christopher Turner, 29, pleaded guilty in Natrona County District Court to possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent. In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop four counts of aggravated assault.

He faces four years of supervised probation including time in the Casper Re-Entry Center or a similar facility. If Turner violates his probation he could serve between three and five years in prison.

Turner stood before the Natrona County District judge in jeans and a black sweater and admitted to using a .40-caliber handgun to harm or threaten Tomasz Gasienica, a man who had recently moved back to Casper from Chicago.

Police officers arrested Turner on April 17 after witnesses said they saw him fire two or three shots at a car.

The chase may have reached speeds up to 90 mph, but no one was injured, according to a police affidavit.

Officers found Turner, two other men and a jammed pistol in a yellow truck that matched the description given to them by Gasienica after the early-morning chase, the affidavit stated.

The maximum penalty for possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent is no more than five years in the Wyoming State Penitentiary and up to a $1,000 fine.

Turner remains free on a $10,000 bond.
