The Wyoming Highway Patrol arrested a Casper man Thursday suspected of leading a trooper on a chase through east Casper.
Vaughn Curtis Beasley, 18, was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving and possession of a controlled substance, according to an affidavit signed by the trooper.
The trooper spotted Beasley in a Ford pickup on a dirt road off Waterford Court leading to an unlit area with construction equipment. The chase began after the trooper tried to pull the truck over.
The pursuit continued until the truck failed to make a turn near the intersection of Hornchurch and Yorkshire avenues and collided with two brick pillars in front of a home, the affidavit states. The trooper smelled alcohol on Beasley and reportedly found a glass pipe inside the truck containing a burnt substance that smelled like marijuana.
