Supreme Court affirms sentence
The Wyoming Supreme Court on Wednesday affirmed the first-degree arson conviction of a man found guilty in 2005 of setting fire to his neighbor's Casper apartment.
In his appeal, Douglas Peter Szymanski claimed the trial court erred by allowing a prosecution fire expert to testify about hearsay statements made to him by a deceased witness, court documents show. Szymanski also alleged the prosecutor in the case committed misconduct.
A Natrona County judge sentenced Szymanski to 16 to 20 years in prison.
