A Casper man admitted Tuesday to pointing a pistol at a clerk's head while trying to rob CY Discount Liquors.

Benjamin Bayne, 19, acknowledged his role in the Aug. 28 hold up during a short court hearing where he pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated robbery. Bayne responded matter-of-factly when Natrona County District Judge Thomas Sullins asked how he used the gun during the incident.

"I pointed it at his head," he told the judge.

Bayne made the plea as part of an agreement with prosecutors, who dismissed a conspiracy charge against him and agreed to recommend he serve no more than six to 10 years in prison. He could have faced up to 25 years in prison for an attempted aggravated robbery conviction.

Bayne is one of four people charged in connection with the incident. Police said he forced open the drive thru window and demanded money from the store clerk at gunpoint. The clerk refused to give up any cash.

The other defendants are accused of conspiring with Banye or driving the getaway car.

A sentencing date for Bayne hasn't been scheduled. He remains held at Natrona County Detention Center.
