Weekend activities include opportunities to watch machine guns and cannons being fired, walk for life and celebrate cancer survivors.

The 11th annual Northern Rockies Machine Gun and Cannon Shoot continues today at 8 a.m. off Highway 487, southwest of Casper.

A spectacular night shoot will be held, along with fireworks. Admission is $10 per day. Children under the age of 12 are free when accompanied by an adult. A food vendor will be on site.

This benefit is for Casper Mountain Volunteer Fire Department and all profits are given to them for their financial needs.

Machine gun and cannon rentals are available. The Fort Phil Kearny regulars will be firing their state-owned Civil War cannon. The Wyoming National Guard will have a display.

From Casper, take Wyoming Highway 220 west to Wyoming Highway 487 and turn south toward Medicine Bow and go approximately 12 miles. The shoot site is located between mile markers 60 and 61.

Care Net Pregnancy and Resource Clinic of Casper will hold its Third Annual Walk For Life from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Crossroads and Adventure Parks. The walk is a two-mile, nonathletic event. Folks of all ages and abilities are encouraged to register as sponsored walkers. More than $33,000 was raised last year by 175 sponsored walkers representing 28 local churches and two schools.

A north Casper Community Garage Sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Winter Memorial Presbyterian Church parking lot, 900 Saint John St. The sale is sponsored by the church at no cost to participants.

The Casper Family YMCA is hosting a free Water Safety Day for all youth from 10 a.m. to noon. Contact Risa at 234-9187 for more information.

Join the Pots and Pans Patriots for an authentic family picnic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Mathew Campfield park in North Casper.

The Patriots will supply hot dogs, chips, and soda. There will be live entertainment, horseshoes and basketball. Sharon Long will be there with her story game and the penny toss. This is a reschedule of the Mother's Day Picnic. For more information, call Mary Ann or Kim at 232-8725.

Rising Star is celebrating 25 years in business and proudly presents its spring dance recital entitled "Reach for The Stars" from 1:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today at Kelly Walsh High School. Students will tumble and dance their way to the stars.

There will be a preshow 30 minutes before each show for solo and duet dancers to show off their award-winning dances.

Admission is $3 per person, children under 5 are free. Programs are $2 with half the proceeds going to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.

The Casper Senior Center, 1831 E. Fourth St., is hosting a dance from 7 to 10 p.m. with music provided by Swing Sounds. Admission is $4 per person, $25 of the total admissions is donated to the Senior Center.

"The Astronaut" at 7 p.m., and "The Dawn of the Space Age" at 8 p.m., will be shown at the Casper Planetarium, 904 N. Poplar St. Admission is $2.50 per person for each show and planetarium shows are not recommended for children under 5.

In "The Astronaut," immerse yourself in an astronaut's body to view things from that perspective and learn about the perils of living and working in space.

"The Dawn of the Space Age" travels through time from the launch of Sputnik through the International Space Station. For more information, call 577-0310.

On Sunday, Brothers of the Third Wheel, an international organization dedicated to trikes (3-wheeled motorcycles) and triking will meet the first Sunday of each month at Casper's Family Restaurant at 10 a.m. for coffee and socializing. If weather permits, the group will ride after coffee. Anyone is welcome to participate. You do not have to have a trike, just an interest in triking. VFW Post 9439 and Auxiliaries, 1800 Bryan Stock Trail, are hosting a breakfast for VFW 9439 Post from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. All proceeds will go toward VFW 9439 Post. Menu includes ham, bacon, link sausage, biscuits with sausage gravy, eggs, hash browns, pancakes, French toast sticks, Danish, fruit and beverages. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10.

The first National Cancer Survivor Day will be celebrated from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Mike Lansing Field. An ice cream social for all survivors and a guest of each will take place before a Media Celebrity Baseball Game pitting the KTWO Radio Flyers against the KCWY TV Batters. The game begins at 3 p.m., and the public is welcome at a cost of $5 each, free for survivors. Call 235-0044 for more information.

A group of Casper riders will participate in today's 100-mile E-Rock bicycle race in Castle Rock, Colo. They include Bob Thunselle, Gale Long, Vicki Rubis, Char Harris, Todd and Julie Hathaway, Paul and Suzann Demple, Paul Jeantet, and Stephanie Sprecher.

Thunselle and Keith Frick continue to raise money for the Denver Ronald McDonald house. They have raised more than $82,000 of their goal of $100,000.
