Police arrest shoplifting suspect

Police Thursday arrested a Casper man suspected of stealing televisions and a ceiling fan from the westside Wal-Mart.

Kenneth Patrick Tennyson, 33, was booked into Natrona County Detention Center on suspicion of grand larceny, according to a police affidavit.

Police arrested Tennyson after a store employee recognized a Chevrolet sedan in the Wal-Mart parking lot as the same car involved in an Aug. 16 theft, when someone stole the televisions and a ceiling fan. The car's license plate were traced to Tennyson, the affidavit stated.

Trash cans, pool cues, chairs tossed in fight

Two customers at Galloway's bar threw chairs at bartenders after being refused more alcohol Thursday night, an employee told police.

As the bartenders and other patrons tried to push the pair out the door, a friend of the two began throwing trash cans, chairs and pool sticks at anyone who came near them, according to a police affidavit.

The three continued to throw things and swing at anyone near them as they were pushed toward the exit. The fight continued outside before police arrived and arrested the three men.

Jared Wayne Apple, 20, Gregory Scott Mackens, 18, and David O'Donnell Reagan, 27, were all booked into jail on suspicion of fighting in public.

Off-road club hosts mud bog

Casper's Wanna Rock Off-Road Club is sponsoring "Mud Bog Extravaganza" this weekend behind the Casper Speedway.

Today's action starts at noon and Sunday's event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Tickets for the event are $5 at the gate, with children under 5 admitted free.

College offers Arabic class

For the first time, Casper College will offer a language class in Arabic. The class, "First Year Arabic" will be taught by Mujahed Ali Ghassan, who was born and raised in Yemen.

Ghassan will also be available for presentations about Yemeni history and culture to campus classes and community groups, according to a release from the college.

The class will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Tuesday.

The Bus sets record in July

The Bus set a record in July by providing 11,119 rides in Casper, Mills and Evansville. The previous record of 10,733 was set in June.

CATC and The Bus will not operate on Sept. 1 in observance of Labor Day; they will resume service on Sept. 2. Other affected holidays include: Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Years Day, Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.

Applications for the subsidized ticket program will be accepted beginning Sept. 2 at the CATC office, 1715 E. Fourth St. Applications will not be available prior to Sept. 2.

NCHS holds back to school night

Natrona County High School's back to school night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The building will be open at 5 p.m. so that parents may visit the library, cafeteria, computer labs, counseling office and find classrooms. Freshman parents are asked to arrive at 5:15 p.m. in the library to hear about the school's plans to issue laptop computers to students.
