Police arrest teen in car burglaries

A Casper teen was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of burglary.

Eyewitnesses told police they saw the young man, suspected to be Aaron Pfiefer, 19, trying to break into a number of cars on Nottingham Drive.

When police arrived, Pfiefer approached an officer crying and saying he'd "screwed up," according to the affidavit.

Pfiefer said he had received a citation for minor in possession earlier in the evening, had a fight with his mother and told her he was leaving for Colorado with his dog, the affidavit said.

Pfiefer told police he tried to enter two vehicles and took a wallet from one. When he was approached by a witness, he said he ran away, leaving the dog and wallet behind. He later returned and waited for the officer to arrive, the affidavit said.

Witnesses told police that Pfiefer tried to gain entry into four different vehicles. Pfiefer said the wallet was the only item he obtained.

Teens plead not guilty in stabbing

Two teenagers charged as accessories in a June 5 stabbing in Casper pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to charges filed against them in 7th District Court.

Donavan Drew Smith, 18, is suspected of participating in an attack that left Christopher Burke, 28, with multiple stab wounds. Smith faces two counts of aiding and abetting an aggravated assault and is also charged with serving as an accessory after the fact to attempted second-degree murder.

Ramon Orlando Jaramillo, a 17-year-old who is accused of destroying evidence in the case, also pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to serving as an accessory after the fact to the stabbing.

Julius "Donte" Brown, 18, is also charged in connection with the attack. He faces an attempted second-degree murder charge, two counts of aggravated assault and a weapons charge, and he is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.

Parts of Casper lose power

A circuit break that may have been caused by a traffic accident cut power to 2,400 Rocky Mountain Power customers Tuesday, a spokeswoman said.

At 4 p.m., power went out to customers near Wyoming Boulevard, Margaret Oler said. Details of the outage, including location of and reasons for the outage were unclear at 4:30 p.m. Oler said a car accident that may be responsible.
