A man who pleaded guilty to ramming a squad car and steering toward officers during a pursuit was sentenced to an eight- to 10-year prison term on Tuesday.

Manuel Cirilio Moreno, 30, pleaded guilty to eight charges including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.

The police chase began in the evening on Dec. 14 when a Natrona County sheriff's deputy saw a black Dodge Durango speeding west on 13th Street.

Moreno ran a stop light, forcing a vehicle off the road.

The chase continued through Casper, reaching speeds of 80 to 90 mph, according to earlier testimony by Assistant District Attorney Dan Itzen.

At one point, Moreno collided with another passenger car.

Moreno swerved toward officers attempting to lay spike strips in the road. He struck a squad car, and the chase ended when an officer rammed his vehicle.

Moreno tried to flee from the scene, but police used a Taser to subdue him.

Moreno received eight- to 10-year sentences for two counts of aggravated assault, one year for each of four counts of reckless endangerment, and six months for eluding a police officer.

Each of the sentences are to be served concurrently, and he will be given credit for time served.
