Casper police arrested one man and requested a warrant for another in two separate incidents of alleged domestic violence Wednesday, according to Natrona County Circuit Court records.
The cases fall under the Domestic Violence Protection Act, which allows authorities to arrest suspects even when victims are unwilling to press charges.
-In the first incident, police arrested a 24-year-old man about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday after he allegedly choked his girlfriend, hit her in the ribs with his closed fist, and struck her in the head with a baseball bat in front of their 3-year-old son.
Officers responded to a call at 1 p.m. Wednesday at their residence in the 300 block of South Fenway Street, where the woman told them that the alleged assaults had been happening during the past two weeks.
The woman was crying, upset and appeared afraid of her boyfriend retaliating against her if he went to jail.
-In the second incident early Wednesday afternoon, police requested a warrant for the arrest of a 32-year-old man who allegedly assaulted his wife at her address in the 1900 block of West Odell, and for allegedly violating a protection order that forbids him from having any contact with her.
The husband went to her residence to ask her to cosign a tax return check, and he became angry with her when she declined. He threw the telephone outside and tried to kick her.
She hid in the bathroom; he reportedly kicked in the door. She fled to her bedroom, and he reportedly kicked in the bedroom door.
She tried to dial 911 on the cell phone provided by the Self Help Center, but he grabbed that from her hand, swore at her and demanded that she cosign the tax return check.
He left the residence after about 30 minutes.
