Authorities on Tuesday identified the boy killed in Saturday's personal watercraft crash at Alcova Reservoir as 11-year-old Brenton McCullar of Evansville.

McCullar was driving a Yamaha watercraft when it collided with a 25-foot speed boat sometime about 4 p.m., said Natrona County Sheriff's Sgt. Mark Sellers. The boy was flown to Wyoming Medical Center in Casper where he was pronounced dead.

A 30-year-old man, whom authorities did not identify, was riding with McCullar. He was also taken to the hospital for treatment. An update on his condition was not available.

Sellers said the man was a family friend.

None of the people in the boat were injured.

The sheriff's office and Wyoming Game and Fish are investigating the cause of the collision. Once their work is complete, the investigation will be forwarded to the Natrona County District Attorney's Office.

"We are still reconstructing the accident," Sellers said.

McCullar and the family friend were wearing life vests at the time of the crash.

In Wyoming, it's legal for children under 16 to drive a personal watercraft as long as they have an adult with them.

Sellers is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Natrona County Sheriff's Office at (307) 235-9282.
