County health warns of Norovirus
Casper-Natrona County Health Department has confirmed at least one case of Norovirus and received several unconfirmed reports of people with symptoms of Norovirus.
Noroviruses are a group of viruses that cause gastroenteritis with symptoms of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramping and a possible fever. People sometimes incorrectly refer to it as the stomach flu, but it is not the same as influenza.
Symptoms generally last about one to two days, but during those days people can feel very sick vomiting many times a day. People may become dehydrated and need medical attention.
Noroviruses are very contagious. Ways to prevent the spread of the virus include washing your hands frequently, especially after going to the bathroom or changing diapers, staying home from school if you are sick and thoroughly cleaning any surface that may have been contaminated with the virus.
