City asks people to move RVs
It is illegal to store a recreational vehicle -- boats, camper trailers, horse trailers -- on the street for more than 5 days in any 30-day period within Casper city limits.
The onset of winter highlights the importance of getting RVs off the streets, according to a press release from the city.
"Due to drifting/blowing snow, poor visibility, icy road conditions, and other winter hazards, it is particularly important for RVs to be removed from city streets during winter months. Therefore, the city of Casper Code Enforcement Department is asking residents to take the initiative and remove their RV from city streets or a notice of violation may be issued for noncompliance," the release read.
RV's can be stored on private property. Questions should be directed to the Code Enforcement Department at (307) 235-8254.
Fawcett moves to shift work
Bob Fawcett, a fire prevention officer with the Casper Fire Department, is moving out of the prevention office and into shift work as an engineer.
Fawcett, who serves as a public information officer for the department in addition to his day-to-day prevention duties, said the move was made at his request. The position he leaves vacant will be filled, Fawcett said.
Street work nearly done
Wyoming Department of Transportation Spokesman Jeff Goetz said construction crews should finish construction on First Street this week.
The stimulus-funded project to patch and re-do stretches of First Street between Yellowstone and the bridge over the North Platte River began last summer.
Goetz said he expected crews to be done with major work today or Wednesday, with minor touch-ups continuing through about Thanksgiving.
School psychologists recognized
Gov. Dave Freudenthal designated this week School Psychology Week in Wyoming.
"The point is to recognize the efforts of school psychologists," Shawn Powell, president of the Wyoming School Psychology Association, said.
Qualifications for school psychologists vary among school districts. Natrona County School District requires a masters degree and at least 36 hours in school psychology. The district employs nine school psychologists who split their time between schools.
Most people don't understand that there is a big difference between school psychologists and clinical psychologists, said Tammy Bertelson, director of special education in the district.
"A school psychologist has a high level of training in education theory and testing practice where a clinical psychologist would do more counseling," she said.
