Ride program proves popular

A program that provided vouchers for free cab rides home for holiday revelers proved so popular that all 30 or so vouchers were used over Thanksgiving weekend. More vouchers are now available, but instead of being distributed to local cab companies, they are being given to Natrona County drinking establishments, said Mills police Lt. Phil Crouch. The voucher program will be in effect until January 1 at noon. People should treat vouchers as a backup plan if they drink too much, not as an excuse to not drink responsibly, Crouch said.

Library sets 'Food for Fines' to stock community storehouse

Would you like a chance to forget your library fines and help less-fortunate community members at the same time? Natrona County Public Library has teamed up with Joshua's Storehouse to continue its "Food for Fines" program beginning Saturday, December 1, and concluding Saturday, December 15.

Library patrons can bring one or several items of nonperishable food to any library branch or the bookmobile to clear their accounts of fines on overdue books, movies, and other library materials. Community members who have no fines, but want to donate canned food are welcome to join in.

Canned food can also be used to pay for replacement library cards if yours is lost. Collection accounts and charges for missing or damaged items do not apply to this program. For more information, please call 577-READ.
