Garden walk features historic district
The Casper College Tate Geological Museum's annual fundraiser, the Tate Garden Walk "Porches, Gardens, and Trees" is scheduled for 2 to 6 p.m. on June 27. The event will feature seven gardens from the South Wolcott historical district of Casper.
The Garden Walk Information Center will be located at 108 E. 10th Street. The home, owned by Doran and Nancy Boston, will serve as the location for each person to receive their special garden walk brochure, containing information about the seven-featured gardens and the history of other homes in the area. Those interested in gardening will be able to find advice and books about gardening at the information center, and Tate Geological Museum items will be available for purchase.
The walk will include plant and tree identification, children's scavenger hunts, and lemonade stands manned by neighborhood children. A city forester will do tree-trimming demonstrations and answer questions regarding all aspects of tree selection, planting and care.
Tickets are $20 per person with children admitted for free. Tickets will be available after Monday, and all proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the Tate Geological Museum Endowment Fund.
Tickets may be purchased at: Field Creek 104, Johnny Appleseed Greenhouse, Galles Greenhouse, Meadow Acres Greenhouse, The Nicolaysen Art Museum, Blue Heron Books and Expresso, Simply Shelia, Wind City Books, Herbdashery, and the Tate Geological Museum.
Organizers are also seeking additional sponsors for the event. For more information, call the Tate Geological Museum at (307) 268-2447.
