Donate jeans, eat beans, jump like a cheerleader or into an outdoor pool, watch the Pokes, sign your name. There are activities of all kinds - and plenty of them - this weekend in central Wyoming.

Today, the 21st Annual National Eating Disorders Awareness Week kicks off with the Great Jeans Giveaway at Eastridge Mall Center Court from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Take a pair of jeans that no longer fit and either swap for another pair or enter a drawing for mall merchant gift certificates. All donated jeans will be given to folks seeking services from local nonprofits.

A gigantic garage sale and evening event to raise money for medical expenses incurred by former Smith's Grocery employee Mike Banovich is in full swing today at 115 S. Elm, the site of Wyoming Health Fairs. Admission is free for the garage sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a kids' corner where a "sitter" for onsite shoppers will be available.

Tonight from 6 to 10 p.m., there is a ticketed evening auction with music, food and drink.

The garage sale concludes on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m., with a fill a bag or box sale.

Donations are appreciated any time to the Wells Fargo Account for the Benefit of Mike Banovich.

The Kelly Walsh cheerleaders will host a camp for kids ages 3 to 12 from 9 a.m. to noon at Kelly Walsh Gym. Cost is $20 per child. This is a fundraiser for the cheer squad. Learn cheers, dances, jumps and some cool stunts.

The University of Wyoming is proud to once again show its thanks to Wyoming veterans by offering free tickets to four UW sporting events.

Tickets are available to the Cowboys game today against TCU at 1:30 p.m.The men's games are today and March 7. Veterans can call the UW ticket office at 800-922-9461 or 307-766-4850 and order tickets to any or all games.

There is a limit of two tickets per game. Tickets can be picked up at the "Will Call" window at the Willett West entrance of Arena-Auditorium the day of the game. Veterans will need to show some type of military ID, such as a VFW or American Legion card, etc. There is a limited number of tickets for each game, so requests will be honored on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The 17th Annual Chili Cook Off will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Casper Events Center. Admission is $10 per person with proceeds benefiting many Casper charities. Due to limited space and personal safety, strollers will not be allowed on the floor of the events center.

Bayard Fox and Claude Poulet, author and photographer for the new Fremont County book "Wind River Country - Hidden Heart of Wyoming," will sign copies of the new book from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wind City Books, 152 S. Center in Casper.

Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming host World Friendship Day from 1- 4 p.m., at the ARLC building, 2011 Fairgrounds Road. The cost for this global expo is $4 per Girl Scout member, an additional $10 for non-Girl Scouts, $2 for adults, and is open to the public from 3 to 4 p.m.

Come join the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life 2009 Team Kickoff to help celebrate the 25th year for Relay For Life from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Ramkota, 800 N Poplar. Stop by to pick up team packets, learn what Relay is and be part of the 25-year celebration.

Stage III's artist-in-residence for this season, Guest Director Ellen Graham, will be teaching two workshops. These workshops are open to all (but please note the age restriction for the Shakespeare workshop).' Whether or not you've participated in Stage III or any other theatre before, everyone is welcome to come learn and have fun.' The cost for each workshop is $20.' However, no one will be left out because of a tight budget; scholarships are available simply by asking for them. 'Call the theatre at 234-0946 and talk to Pat Pulitzer.

'The workshops are: No Fear Shakespeare ' today and Feb. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m; must be 15 or older; and Improvisation ' today from 10 a.m. to noon and Feb. 22 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Casper Garden Club will meet for its February meeting at the Mills Senior Center, Fourth and Wasatch in Mills at 10 a.m.' This month's program will include two topics: growing and using herbs, and starting seeds indoors for spring planting. Anyone interested in gardening is invited to attend.

Murie Audubon's 23rd Annual Banquet and Fundraiser is at the Parkway Plaza with a Western Buffet.' Wyoming wildlife and landscape photographers Francis and Janice Bergquist of Saratoga are the guest speakers.' Tickets are $25 each or a table of 8 for $175. People will jump into freezin' cold water to show their support for Special Olympics Wyoming.' The Casper Jackalope Jump will take place at the Casper Aquatics Center at 5 p.m.'The Jackalope Jump is open to the public, both to view and participate.' Participants will jump into an outdoor pool of cold water.' A rescue team will be on hand to ensure the safety of the event.' After jumping, participants will be able to warm up at the Post-Jump Bash held inside the Casper Aquatics Center.

Jumpers can register to participate by logging onto www.specialolympicswy.org and following the link, or just show up at 5 p.m.' Jumpers need to raise at least $100 to participate which qualifies them to receive a Jackalope Jump long sleeved t-shirt, entry into the Post-Jump Bash and the more money jumpers raise the more incentive prizes they qualify for.

Local youngsters between the ages of 8 and 13 have the opportunity to participate in the Jr. Olympic Skills Competition. This free grassroots youth participation program allows boys and girls, competing separately, the opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities in basketball at the Casper Recreation Center at 12:30 p.m. Participants may register the day of the event.

Tonight's adult dance with music by Swing Sounds will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Mills Senior/Community Center, 401 Wasatch St., in Mills.

Sunday Morning Breakfast, open to the public, will be served this week at the Elks Lodge in the dining room from 8 to 11 a.m. All you can eat, $5. Children under 12 are free.

The expansion of Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions is almost finished, but help is still needed. From 2 to 4 p.m., on Sunday, CWHTP will be hosting a Fund a Foot floor signing party for donors who have sponsored a square foot of the expansion. These donors have been sent invitations, but the public is also invited to purchase a square foot at the event. For $185, you can fund one square foot of the building project.

At the event, the floor of the new hospice home, on the corner of Fenway and Third streets, will be gridded off in square feet with chalk lines. All Fund a Foot donors will be welcome to leave a lasting message on a square foot of the new hospice home before the carpet is laid. Sharpies and refreshments will be provided. Dance and skate for Amberli Mosteller at the Wagon Wheel Roller Rink on Sunday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The rink is donating the $5 admission fee. 4/H will serve a soup dinner and raffle tickets to raise money. Decorated roller skates will be on display for you to choose your favorite. Everyone is welcome to country dance or roller skate for Amberli, an excellent family event.
