Bar Nunn will soon have an operational recycling depot, according to a plan approved by the Casper City Council at Tuesday's meeting.
The mayor of Bar Nunn met with city employees to request a recycling depot for the town. The town of Bar Nunn will pay for containers and install a surface for the containers, and the city will pick up and haul recyclables free of charge.
The town will have a full depot, complete with containers for plastics, newspaper, aluminum, magazines, cardboard, glass and white paper.
The depot in Bar Nunn has containers for all the recyclables except plastic. Those containers have been ordered and should arrive in about a month, according to a city memo.
The city will then haul the items to Wyoming Recycling, a company the city contracts with to dispose of recyclables.
Jolene Martinez, an administrative analyst with the city, said city recycling trucks will make the trip once each week and expect 40 to 50 pounds of recyclables from each trip.
The city currently has a similar arrangement with Evansville.
