A Casper man who's already facing charges in connection with a May boat crash was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Officers took Charles Denney, 31, into custody early Saturday after someone phoned-in a drunken driving report on his car. Police also received a report the car was involved in a crash near 11th and Mitchell streets.
A responding officer found Denney getting out of the passenger side of a different car at his home on the 800 block of South Beech Street, according to a police affidavit. Police said he smelled of alcohol.
Denney told the officer he had been car jacked and later got a ride home from his brother. He denied being in a car wreck.
Police booked Denney on suspicion of driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and interference with police. He pleaded not guilty to all charges Monday in Natrona County Circuit Court.
Denny already faces boating under the influence and cocaine possession charges in connection to a May 16 boat crash at Alcova Reservoir. He has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.
According to investigators, Denney said he had been driving the boat before the crash, but the boat's owner, Seth Linaman, grabbed the steering wheel and throttled up shortly before the craft struck a wall of Fremont Canyon.
Linaman has also pleaded not guilty to charges related to the boating crash.
