Big bucks from ducks

The Great Duck Derby sponsored by the Casper Rotary Club raised $105,020 for the club's philanthropic projects with the sale of 5,251 ducks at $20 each.

A list of the more than 100 prize winners can be found at www.casperrotary.org. Prizes ranged from $3,000 cash and luxury travel to numerous items and gift certificates donated by generous local merchants.

Chance Warne, co-chairman for the event, shaved his head, painted his body yellow and floated down the river behind the ducks from their drop-in point at Jonah Bank to their finish line corral at the Adventureland Playground, which is also a Rotary Club project.

The Great Duck Derby is held in conjunction with the Platte River Parkway Fall Festival each year.
