Walk to the cross, hunt for eggs, enjoy brunch out

All ages are welcome to attend a nondenominational event at 7 a.m. today at the Faith Assembly, 4301 Casper Mountain Road. Hike to the cross on the hill or remain in the sanctuary. Breakfast will be served afterward, with donations appreciated for the breakfast. Participants who wish to walk to the cross should dress warmly and wear solid footwear. For 58 years, the Powder River VFW has sponsored an Easter egg hunt for kids, and today may only be March 22, but it's no different.

Festivities for kids of all ages begin at noon sharp at the fairgrounds' Industrial Building, and parents will want to be sure to have their kids there on time.

If the kids still have energy to burn, they can skate with the Easter Bunny at the Casper Ice Arena from 1-3 p.m. The admission, $3 per person, pays for skating, skate rental, games, candy and prizes.

Many Christian churches have Easter vigil services this evening and this morning offers a final chance for some quiet meditation as the indoor labyrinth is available for walking at St. Anthony's Parish Center, 624 S. Wolcott, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. All faith traditions are welcome.

Tonight, folks of all ages are invited to a rock concert with proceeds benefitting Melissa Berg's ongoing medical expenses.

Doors open at 6:30 and the music starts at 7 at the American Legion, 4200 Legion Lane. Tickets at the door are $12 or $10 with two cans of food for Joshua's Storehouse. Bands include Back Alley Knockout, Not Whole, Driftwood and Snowed In.

Vern and Rita Davis will play dancing and listening music tonight from 7 to 10 p.m., at the Senior Center, 1831 E. Fourth St. Admission is $4 per person.

On Sunday, two fraternal organizations are offering brunches open to the public.

Easter Brunch will be served in the Elks' dining room from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu includes a full array of breakfast and dinner items. Cost is $10; children under 12 are free. If you have six or more, call 234-4834 to make reservations.

Powder River Veterans Club, 420 W. First St., will serve Easter brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $5 per person. The menu is ham and eggs and homemade cinnamon rolls.
