Police search for missing woman
Casper police are asking for the public's help in finding a 51-year-old woman who's been missing since Sept. 19.
Katherine McLaughlin, 51, was last seen at Sloane's at Alcova. Authorities suspect she may be in the area of Pathfinder or Alcova reservoirs.
McLaughlin was driving a white, 1995 Chevy Silverado with license plate 1-899P. She is 5-foot-7 and weighs 110 pounds.

Library holds 'Salute to Soldiers' event
The Natrona County Public Library will offer the opportunity for community members to salute our soldiers and support them during the holiday season, according to a media release.
Individuals are encouraged to sign Christmas cards at the library, make or bring their own cards from home or write personal letters. An information sheet including tips on what to write is available at all library branches, including the bookmobile. Bring cards and letters to any library branch by Oct.19 to be included in the Christmas mailing.
In addition, two "Salute to Soldiers" programs will be held for teens in grades 7-12. Teens can decorate journals and create personalized cards for Wyoming's own 115th Fires Brigade troops at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Call 577-READ for more information.
Discovery Center plans grand reopening
The Discovery Center at the Nicolaysen Art Museum will hold at grand reopening event from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday to celebrate its new look and art/education stations, according to a media release.
During the event, visitors can enjoy lemonade and cookies, as well as have a chance to receive prizes.
For the past month, the Discovery Center has been receiving a "makeover" that includes new paint and flooring throughout, courtesy of Groathouse Construction. In addition, GSG Architecture has created and installed four new art/education stations.

Dean Morgan administrator chosen as Wyoming principal of the year
Two principals will represent Wyoming at the State and National Principals' Institute on Oct. 14-17 in Washington, D.C., according to a media release.
Walt Wilcox, principal at Dean Morgan Junior High School, and Shannon Harris, principal at Star Valley High School, will be honored as 2009 Wyoming Principals of the Year by MetLife and the National Association of Secondary School Principals. In addition to an awards banquet, they will attend a series of workshops and meetings.
The honor does not come with a financial award, but a national winner selected from the state winners receives a $5,000 grant. The 2010 national winner was from a middle school in Georgia.
NWS announces Winter Weather Awareness Day
The National Weather Service has designated Wednesday as Winter Weather Awareness Day in Wyoming, according to a media release.
The day serves as an opportunity for individuals, families, businesses and schools to review their winter preparedness plans. The National Weather Service encourages the development of preparedness plans and familiarization with the hazards associated with winter weather.
