The Natrona County school board is expected to act on a $135 million facilities plan before the plan is sent to the state for consideration.
The board is expected to act during tonight's 7:30 p.m. meeting at the district office at 970 N. Glenn Rd. The board heard an update on the plan during a June 11 school board work session.
The projects include construction of a new CY Middle School, Evansville Elementary School and Park Elementary School, property acquisition, prototype design and site development for new east side and west side elementary schools, additions to Sagewood Elementary and Bar Nunn Elementary and a remodel/replacement analysis for Natrona County High School and Kelly Walsh High School.
"We will be submitting our plans to the (Wyoming) School Facilities Commission and then they will be reviewing it," said Dennis Bay, district facilities planning and construction manager.
Districts have to have their plans submitted to the state by July 1. From there, the state Legislature approves the funding the facilities commission requests for all the projects in the state.
In another matter, the board is expected to act on $351,500 for major maintenance enhancement projects. The money will come from the 2006-07 major maintenance enhancement budget. The district's facilities committee came to a consensus on the projects at a meeting on June 14, information from the district indicated.
The projects will be at Kelly Walsh High School, Natrona County High School and Midwest School and include making restrooms compliant with American with Disabilities Act, repairing swimming pools and replacing doors and other items.
The board also is expected to act on hiring Murane & Bostwick, LLC, which has law offices in Casper and Cheyenne, as special counsel effective July 1 through June 30, 2009.
The firm will represent the district in matters relating to real estate, complex construction contracts, bond issues and bond opinions and some complex school finance issues, district information indicated.
