Authorities are investigating the cause of a trailer home fire that killed a Natrona County man over the weekend.

Firefighters found Jeremy Collier, 25, inside a trailer on Johnstone Road in Dempsey Acres on Sunday morning, according to the Natrona County Sheriff's Office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Natrona County Coroner's Office is still determining the cause of Collier's death. He was the only person at the trailer home at the time of the fire.

Crews from the Natrona County Fire District and the Mills Fire Department responded to the blaze just before 7 a.m. Although the fire was confined to a small area of the trailer, it produced heavy smoke and high heat, said Dave Baker, a fire inspector with the county fire district.

The fire caused heavy damage to the trailer, which Collier had rented. The fire appeared to have started in the trailer's kitchen area, although that information is preliminary, said Natrona County Sheriff's Sgt. Mark Sellers.

A final report on the fire isn't expected for a few weeks.

"It's a sad, unfortunate thing, and it takes a lot of paperwork to get down to a final report," Baker said.

Crews from the Casper Fire Department and Wyoming Medical Center also responded to the fire, which was reported by a neighbor.
