Watson's faith journey began at Christ First Missionary Baptist and continued at Light of Life Miracle Deliverance Church in Commerce City, Colo., where she served as a missionary, youth director and choir director. Christmas in July

It's never too early to look forward to Christmas. That's why Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan's Purse that sends gift-filled shoe boxes to poor kids in more than 120 countries, is having "Christmas in July." This will allow local churches to incorporate Operation Christmas Child into their Vacation Bible School programs. Kids can decorate shoe boxes and bring in supplies - toiletries, crayons, pens, hard candy (no chocolate or Tootsie Rolls), T-shirts, socks, baseball caps, hair clips and small books, stuffed animals and toys - to fill them. For more information on how to have Christmas in July, call Heather Sundstrom, church relations coordinator, at 232-9528.

There will also be a city-wide shoe box packing party for all interested at 10 a.m. July 25 at Highland Park Community Church, 411 S. Walsh Drive. Bring shoe boxes and wrapping paper (some will be provided, but extras are always good), items to fill the boxes (see above), a personal note and picture to put in your boxes and $7 to help cover the cost of shipping. For more information about Operation Christmas Child, call Wanda Klietz, area coordinator, at 277-5467.
