Western Medical Associates fired its chief executive officer Wednesday afternoon, according to doctors at the family practice group.

Richard Blauvelt was fired "for multiple reasons dating back to his hiring 10 months ago," said Dr. Joe Mickelson, one of the physicians in the practice.

Blauvelt confirmed his termination in a press release Thursday.

Officials at Western Medical Associates declined to comment further.
