Olsen Quinlan served as interim superintendent in the mid-1990s
The Natrona County School District's associate superintendent for human resources has resigned her post, effectively immediately.
Cheryl Olsen Quinlan, the associate superintendent, will also no longer serve on Superintendent Joel Dvorak's cabinet.
Dvorak did not offer any comments on the matter outside of what was printed in a district press release.
"It would not be appropriate to comment further," Dvorak said.
Quinlan's position will be posted, and a national search will be conducted to select her replacement. Quinlan's 2007-08 contract carried a base salary of $125,636.
Board chairman Shannon Jackett said the trustees have no say in whom the superintendent chooses for his cabinet. Trustees are charged with hiring, and if necessary, firing the superintendent, Jackett added.
"It's up to the superintendent to have his cabinet," Jackett said.
Jackett said the recent organizational assessment has provided Dvorak and the board with a variety of opportunities to create change in the district.
"I'm hoping we can move forward as a district," Jackett said. "I think Joel is the person to do that."
Quinlan has worked for the school district in a number of capacities, including interim superintendent in the mid-1990s.
In 2008, former superintendent Jim Lowham recognized Quinlan under a program known as "People Inspiring NCSD." Lowham's nomination said he chose Quinlan for "her ability to grow leaders through evaluating and dialog."
