CY hosts honor-roll breakfast

CY Junior High School will host a special breakfast for first-quarter honor roll students and their parents on Thursday, according to a media release.

Sixth-grade honor roll students and families will assemble at 8 a.m. Seventh-graders meet at 8:30 a.m. Eighth- and ninth-graders will eat at 9 a.m. Parents of these students are invited to attend the breakfast and celebrate their students' success.

NCHS JROTC team places

Two members of the Natrona County Mustang Battalion Raider team placed Saturday at the sixth annual Cadet Challenge in Loveland, Colo., according to a media release.

Jesica Dusselijee and Reese Seiver earned the National Physical Fitness award for scoring a minimum of 85 percent on the test. In addition, the Mustangs placed second out of 16 Army and U.S. marine Corps JROTC teams at the competition.

The Cadet Challenge is an athletic event that measures overall physical fitness. The test is comprised of five events that mirror the Presidents' Physical Fitness test, including one minute of curl-ups, V-sits, pull-ups, shuttle run, and one-mile run.

CC concert set for Halloween

The Casper College Concert Band will be in concert at 3 p.m. on Oct. 31 in Durham Hall, according to a media release.

The concert will feature music from Leonard Bernstein, Johannes Brahms, Gustav Holst, Nicoli Rimsky-Korsakoff and Claude T. Smith.

The concert is free and open to the public. Durham Hall is located in the Aley Fine Arts Center on the Casper College campus.

NCSD trustees change meeting locations

The Natrona County School District Board of Trustees has switched the locations for its November general meetings, according to a media release.

The meeting scheduled for Nov. 9 in Midwest now will be held at the Central Services Facility, 970 N. Glenn Road., in Casper.

The meeting scheduled for Nov. 23 at Central Services now will be held at Midwest School, 256 Lewis St., in Midwest.

The general meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. Work sessions precede general sessions. For a complete schedule, see the board agendas, which are published at www.natronaschools.org the Friday before each meeting.

McConigley, Denny lead Humanities Council program

The Wyoming Humanities Council invites Casper residents to participate in a current events video-conference discussion called "What's News?" from 7 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 30 in room 113 of the UW Outreach Building.

Nimi McConigley and Chuck Denny will facilitate the session. The League of Women Voters of Casper is a local partner for the event. Participants at video sites in Cheyenne, Gillette and Meeteetse will join the discussion.
