An unidentified man stabbed a Mills woman in the leg while she tried to break up a dog fight on Tuesday evening.

Mills Police Lt. Phil Crouch said the woman, 29-year-old Heidi Oshel, didn't know the man who stabbed her.

She saw her dog and another dog fighting in the street around 5:30 p.m. and tried to separate the two animals. A man ran toward her while she was in the street, stabbed her in the front of her right thigh, and ran away, Crouch said.

"He didn't say anything to her," Crouch said. "He just came out and stabbed her and took off."

Oshel told police she didn't know who the man was or where he lives and hadn't seen him before, Crouch said. The police report also didn't say what the man used to stab her.

An ambulance took her to the Wyoming Medical Center, but Crouch said her wound was not life threatening and he believed she was released.

Crouch speculated that the other dog in the fight may have been connected to the man who stabbed her, but he wasn't sure at the time. The case is still under investigation.

The man was described as white, 6 feet tall and skinny, wearing blue jeans and a grey T-shirt.
