On this beautiful, busy weekend, you can walk with your dog, or you can walk on the mountain, or you can walk amidst butterflies, birds and wildflowers.

You can hear about Western history - free; or you can enjoy free birthday cake - there are 100 choices expected.

At 7 a.m., today, you and your four-legged friend are invited to participate in the "Canines for the Cure" fund-raiser for a Relay for Life team formed in memory of the late Sara Lore. The cost is $25 per dog. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. The walk is a three-mile, 1-1/2 mile out and back course along the Platte River Parkway, beginning and ending at Crossroads Park on North Poplar Street. Meet at the gazebo near the playground.

The Bureau of Land Management National Historic Trails Interpretive Center staff is conducting a guided hike at Muddy Mountain from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. BLM interpreters will discuss Muddy Mountain's unique natural history, including plants, animals and geology. The hike is approximately 3 miles on easy to moderate trail. Hikers will meet at the Trails Center at 10 a.m. and caravan to the site in their own personal vehicles. Wear sturdy shoes or boots, and bring water and snacks. The program is free, but space is limited.

Murie Audubon Society hosts a Nature Walk at 11:30 a.m., at the Audubon Center on Garden Creek. You will see butterflies, birds and wildflowers, along the Bird Trail, let by a naturalist. Access to Audubon Center is south on Poplar about one mile from the intersection with Wyoming Boulevard. Turn left on the dirt road at the sign.

The Natrona County Rockhounds Club hosts its 62nd annual Rock, Gem and Mineral Show, today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel, 800 N. Poplar St. There will be games and fun for all ages. Admission is $3 for adults; younger than 11 and over 65 are free.

WyHy Federal Credit Union has teamed up with a local shredding company, A Thru Z Document Destruction to provide a free service to WyHy members and Casper residents to protect them from identity theft from 9 a.m. to noon, at the WyHy branch. This service allows complete destruction of documents from bank and credit card statements to tax records anything deemed necessary (limit four boxes).

Brothers of the Third Wheel, a social organization dedicated to trikes and triking will hold its monthly coffee at 10 a.m., at the Platte River restaurant, 321 East "E" St. Anyone is welcome and you do not have to have a trike, just an interest in trikes and triking.

Former Wyoming Cowboys basketball stars Theo Ratliff and Fennis Dembo are in Casper from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., today, signing autographs at the Super Stars & Sports Cards at the Sunrise Shopping Center. They will sign your items for a donation to the Oliver Wilson Cancer Fund. Wilson is a former UW basketball player who is fighting cancer.

Mountain View Regional Hospital celebrates its first anniversary from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with games, fun activities, food, drawings and giveaways as well as educational opportunities, all in the front parking lot absolutely free.

Central Wyoming Rescue Mission will be holding its Cowpie Jamboree in conjunction with the Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo. Win cash prizes and at the same time support your local mission. The official open house for the first Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom in Wyoming and the 23rd in the nation is at 2 p.m., at 1901 E. 24th St., in Casper. Please RSVP at 333-5406.

Please join Painted Past Productions and the Parkway Plaza as they present "Good Guys Bad Guys." The festivities begin at 6 p.m., with cocktails, when the audience finds itself at a closing dinner of a detectives convention. The plot thickens during dinner with a murder, and an awards ceremony's highlight is the arrest of someone no one suspects! Make reservations at the Parkway Plaza at 235-1777, ext 1005. For a full night's entertainment, the cost is only $50 per couple or $30 per single.

The Bureau of Land Management National Historic Trails Interpretive Center is offering a new series of evening programs and activities for this summer. The programs are free and open to the public.

Tonight's first program at 7 p.m., is "Calamity Jane's Story: The Truth, Mostly…," presented by Glenda Bell of Powell. Her program will last approximately one hour.

Murdoch's Ranch & Home Supply has begun a discount program for FFA members on show related products needed to complete their Ag-based education and training. Murdoch's will kick off this FFA discount program in all stores today. FFA members are urged to stop by their local Murdoch's with I.D in the form of an FFA membership card, FFA jacket or FFA newsletter addressed to them, and receive their discount card. The discount card will provide them a 10% discount on necessary FFA/ag educational show supplies.

On Sunday, VFW Post 9439 and Auxiliaries, 1800 Bryan Stock Trail are hosting a benefit breakfast for the American Cancer Society from 8-11 a.m. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10.

The Town of Glenrock invites everyone to celebrate its 100th birthday with free birthday cakes (100 of them) being served at 2 p.m. on Sunday in Town Park. Come meet old friends and make new, have a slice of cake and listen to "All Together Now," a group of young fiddle players. All are welcome to join in the fun.
