Firefighters extinguished two blazes fueled Wednesday afternoon by high winds, warm temperatures and dry conditions.

No injuries were reported from either fire.

The first broke out a little after 1 p.m. on the 2500 block of Allendale Boulevard, according to a news release from the Natrona County Fire Protection District. It advanced from dry grass into stacks of plywood and lumber belonging to a concrete construction company.

The fire, which investigators say was caused by sparks from a metal-cutting chop saw, was quickly controlled. However, it took crews from the fire district and Casper Fire-EMS several hours to mop up.

About 20 minutes after that fire, another blaze was reported on Ranch Road near Hat Six Road and East Second Street. It spread quickly, destroying two outbuildings and burning about four acres of grass, according to the fire district.

Farm and ranching equipment was also damaged.

Investigators blamed the second fire on sparks caused when a power line swaying in the high winds touched a metal conduit on a power pole.

The fire was extinguished by crews from Casper Fire-EMS, Evansville Volunteer Fire Department and the county fire protection district.

Damage estimates were not available Wednesday afternoon.
