Man sentenced for sexual abuse

Dan Daniels, 37, pleaded guilty on Friday to sexual contact with a minor that happened between 1992 and 1995.

Police arrested Daniels after a man reported Daniels had molested him as a child.

Daniels was initially charged with three counts of second-degree sexual assault and one count of indecent liberties with a minor.

He could receive up to a year in the Casper Re-Entry Center.

Idaho man sentenced for arson

A Natrona County District Court Judge sentenced Thomas Joe Avila to two to four years in prison in connection to a pair of car fires.

Police arrested Avila after responding to reports of a car fire behind the KTWO-AM radio building on Nichols Avenue and a second car in flames on the 300 block of West BC Street.

In addition to the car fires police found damage to nearby businesses.

Avila was also ordered to pay more than $2,500 in restitution.

Man sentenced in sexual abuse

A Casper man received 12 to 20 years in prison related to charges of sexual abuse of a minor.

William Joe Scott, 52, received four to five years for his first count to be served before the second and third charges. He received another eight to 12 years for sexual abuse of a minor and producing child pornography.

Woman leaves babies in car

Casper police officers arrested a Nevada woman recently for child endangerment after they discovered two infants sleeping in her car near Moonlight Liquors.

Nikki Leann Freeman, 23, was in the bar drinking a beer around midnight Thursday night when police found her, according to an affidavit. She ultimately told police she had driven to the bar.

An officer noticed the car was running, the back window broken and covered with plastic and two infants sleeping in their child restraints, the affidavit stated.

Department of Family Services officers soon took the two girls into protective custody.

She is being held at the Natrona County Detention Facility in lieu of $1,500 bond.

Metro hosts animal adoptathon

Metro Animal Control and Welfare will host its annual Home 4 the Holidays Adopt-A-Thon from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, according to a release.

Santa Claus will be at the shelter from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., along with DeMaine Image for pictures with you and your pet. Refreshments will be served through out the day.

Metro will reduce adoption fees by $10 dollars on dogs and an additional $5 dollars on cats. Applicants that rent must have a landlord approval, and all animals owned by applicants must be current on their rabies vaccinations and Metro pet license.

Library cancels 3-D workshop

A workshop on three-dimensional drawing scheduled for Tuesday evening at the Natrona County Public Library has been cancelled, according to a release.

NCHS sets blood donation record

The Natrona County High School's National Honor Society recently sponsored a blood drive for all staff, students and parents willing to participate, according to a release.

United Blood Services collected 56 units of blood, a district record.
