Officials investigate truck theft

The Natrona County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the suspected theft of a 2005 Dodge pickup missing since Wednesday.

Kenneth Oleson's son called the sheriff's office at approximately 1 p.m. Wednesday to report the suspected larceny. He had left the vehicle at Southwest Oil Products on Barton Drive, where he works, at about 5 p.m. Tuesday. It was gone when he returned.

Oleson, who lives out of state, is the truck's owner. His son had been using the truck.

The keys were not left in the pickup, Sgt. Mark Sellers said.

It is a dark blue, 2005 Dodge Quad-Cab. It is valued at $25,000.

NCHS student council is recognized

The Natrona County High School Student Council was recognized as a meritorious student council -- its seventh consecutive year to earn the honor -- at the 54th annual State Student Council Convention in Casper this week.

NCHS student council members and advisors also gained recognition at the event. Bruce Berst and Brian Sanders were recognized as nominees for state advisor of the year, and Berst was recognized for his 30 years as a student council advisor.

The council was presented a plaque in recognition of its $10,000 contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wyoming.

Bridget Kelly was elected as the Central Regional Representative. Jordon Coleman was elected Wyoming Association of Student Councils vice president. Whitney Stack was selected as an All-State Council Member.

Wind City Books wins prize

Vicki Burger and Hugh Jenkins of Wind City Books in Casper won a Halloween-themed display contest, according to a media release.

The contest called for independent booksellers across the country to decorate windows for the humorous books "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" and "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters."

Wind City's serpent-infested Barbie boat and life-size bloody female zombie won a first-place $500 prize and ten author-signed copies of Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters.

Becky Conger and Sandra Mena, employees of the book store, designed the window and will receive the monetary portion of the prize.
