A police standoff in Mills ended Tuesday night when police found a man dead inside a trailer home they had surrounded.

Authorities did not disclose how the 50-year-old man died. They did not identify him, but said he lived at the home.

The incident began after Mills police received a domestic disturbance call at about 4 p.m. from the Mountain View Drive home, said Lt. Phil Crouch. Gunshots were fired in the home before officers arrived.

Two people, a woman and a boy, left the home. Crouch identified them as victims and said neither suffered gunshot injuries. They were taken to the Mills Police Station.

The man, meanwhile, remained inside the home and didn't respond when police tried to call him. The Natrona County Special Response Team arrived and officers set up a perimeter around the home, Crouch said.

The team also brought two armored vehicles to the scene.

Police negotiators tried to make contact with the man via a phone inside the house. After getting a busy signal, authorities had the phone company break into the line.

"We could hear, basically, background noises, but could not hear any contact from him," Crouch said. "And then the SWAT team made entry and found him deceased inside the home."

The team found no one else inside the home.

Police reported the man's death about 7 p.m. - three hours after the standoff began. Crouch said authorities don't know yet when the man died.
