BOR schedules land use meeting

The Bureau of Reclamation, following pressure from the Wyoming delegation, has scheduled a meeting in Casper for citizens to comment on a newly proposed rule that would impact homes and facilities on land managed by the BOR, according to a release.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel, 800 N. Poplar. BOR members will be on hand to explain and get feedback on the proposed exclusive use rule.

A revised rule proposed by the bureau clarifies how private individuals may use BOR lands, facilities and waterbodies, including private, exclusive uses of those lands from trailers and mobile homes. The 60-day public comment period for the proposed rule is open until Sept. 16.

NC plans welcome, orientation

Natrona County High School will host Welcome Back and Orientation Days for its students next week, according to a release from the district.

Welcome Back Day for juniors and seniors will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday. Students whose last names begin with A-L should come to the school in the morning, and students whose last names begin with M-Z should come in the afternoon.

Orientation Day for freshmen and sophomores is Aug. 15. Students whose last names begin with A-L should come to the school from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and students whose last names begin with M-Z should come to school from 10:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Health Center holds story time

In celebration of National Health Center Week 2008, the Community Health Center of Central Wyoming will host story time for parents and their children next week.

A reader will present a Berenstain Bears' book about a health care or another educational topic. The first 20 children at each story time will receive a free Berenstain Bears book.

Story time will be held at 10 a.m. Monday through Friday in the clinic auditorium, 1522 E. A St. A different book will be read each day. Each child should be accompanied by an adult.

Center releases falls times, locations

The locations and times of operation have been released for adult basic education/GED instruction and English as a second language for the 2008 fall semester from Casper College, according to a release. Fall hours will begin Aug. 25.

Free instruction is provided to adults in basic reading, basic writing, basic math, and GED preparation.

The ABE/GED Center at Casper College will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays; from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday; and from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Fridays.

The ABE/GED Center is located in the Werner Technical Center, Room 115 on the Casper College campus.

A mandatory, new student orientation for GED students will be held each Tuesday at 8 a.m., 1 p.m., and 6 p.m. at the ABE/GED Center. GED testing is available at Casper College by appointment.

The Casper Workforce Center, located at 851 Werner Court, Suite 121, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The ESL Program will be held at the College Heights Community Center, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The center is located in the former Garfield Elementary School at 1927 S. Walnut. English instruction will also be provided from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Casper College ABE/GED Center.
