Exhibit features works from NC
An exhibition of more than 80 artworks by students from Natrona County High School opened Tuesday in the Rosenthal Gallery at the Nicolaysen Art Museum & Discovery Center.
The show - which runs through May 31 - features drawings, paintings, sculptures, photography and more.

Casper native receives fellowship
Two graduate students at Montana State University - including one from Casper - have received research fellowships from the National Science Foundation.
Sarah Lukes and Christopher Colson are working on their doctorates in MSU's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Each will each receive up to $121,000 over three years.
Lukes of Casper was MSU's top engineering student in 2005. She will work to improve the focus controls on optical instruments used in surgery.
New library information meeting
Natrona County Library Director Bill Nelson will give an informational presentation about the new library at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the library's Crawford Room.
The library staff members and trustees will also solicit ideas from the public on the project.

School board plans work session
The Natrona County School District Board of Trustees will meet for a work session from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Sun Room at the Casper Petroleum Club.
Discussion topics include addressing parent concerns and working with the media.
No public comment is taken during work sessions, but the public is invited to attend and listen to discussion.
Actors, musicians showcase talent
An acting and musical theatre showcase of Casper College students will be presented at 7 p.m. on Monday in the Black Box Theatre, located on the south side of the Gertrude Krampert Theatre Complex.
The showcase, which is part of the assessment process, allows the faculty of the department of theatre and dance an opportunity to sit back and watch the outcome of the work the sophomore performance students have done in classes at Casper College, according to Rich Burk, Casper College theatre instructor.
The showcase is free and open to the public.
Casper Children's Chorale Mother's Day Concert
The Casper Children's Chorale presents its 29th Annual Mother's Day Concert at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Kelly Walsh High School Auditorium. Tickets are $6 per person and will be sold at the door.
The performance will include many different styles of music by boys and girls in fourth through eighth grade.
The group recently returned from a trip to New York where it received superior ratings a the National Children's Chorus Festival.
The group will also hold auditions for the 2008-09 season from May 15 to 31. To schedule an audition time, call 235-2705.

Gay community sets pride event
Casper's second annual GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, and Transgender) Pride Event will take place on from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 7 at Washington Park.
Food and soft drinks will be provided for free, as well as free and confidential rapid HIV testing. The event is open to the public.

UW/CC graduation is Thursday
The University of Wyoming/Casper College Center will honor 160 graduates at the commencement ceremony at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Casper Events Center.
This year, the UW/CC Center will graduate four cohorts, in which students complete their degrees as a collective group. These programs offer candidates for graduation once every two to three years.
Gail Zimmerman, executive vice president of Kaiser and Company, will give the commencement address. Zimmerman taught at Casper College from 1965 to 1988. He was an anatomy and physiology instructor for the UW/CC Center, one of the first teachers employed by the off-campus UW institution in 1976.
Events Center offers seminar
Mile High Natural Awakenings will offer a seminar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 7 in the Summit Room at the Casper Events Center. The event is designed to encourage women to reconnect with their place of inspiration.
Soulful Living, Exploring Your True Self, will teach women self-alignment, authenticity and how to live a discerning, deliberate and conscious life, according to a release from the Events Center. The experiential day will begin with a group meditation and includes speakers that offer tips, ideas and secrets for living a more fulfilled life. Brook Kreder will facilitate the event.
Cost to attend is $110 if registered by June 1 and $125 after June 1. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the program starts at 9 a.m. For more information or to register, call Tiffine Canepa at the Events Center at 235-8456.
