The Natrona County school board will hold a dedication ceremony for the new Fort Caspar Academy today. The ceremony begins at 5 p.m., followed by the board's executive session at 6 p.m.

Fort Caspar Academy was established by a group of parents in 1995. The new building is located at 4100 W. 38th Street, near the Wolf Creek Development.

The project cost an estimated $17 million to complete, according to school district construction reports. Approximately 400 students will be able to attend the 63,000-square-foot school.

The existing school will not be demolished, and is now called the Fairgrounds Center.

Fort Caspar's new facility is just one of the district's construction projects. Other projects include new facilities for Cottonwood Elementary, Poison Spider School and CY Middle School.

As of April, district reports indicated all three schools are expected to open in 2009 or 2010.

The board's regular meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the new Fort Caspar Academy school site. Public comments are now taken at the beginning of the regular meeting instead of at the end.
