A Bar Nunn man who was charged Thursday with failing to register as a sex offender is being investigated for possible offenses against eight other underage victims, a prosecutor said.

Warren Jay Crawford, 39, already has two convictions in Wyoming for sex offenses, according to the state's online sex registry.

Crawford appeared in Natrona County Circuit Court on Thursday afternoon, when a judge set his bond at $20,000. While discussing that bond, Assistant District Attorney Stephanie Hambrick mentioned that police have been investigating Crawford in connection with other juvenile victims. She did not elaborate.

Last week, investigators couldn't find Crawford when they visited the Bar Nunn home listed as his residence, according to a police affidavit. A man who was living at that home told detectives he believed Crawford had moved to Arkansas.

Authorities already received information that Crawford might have also been living in Arizona, but detectives found that neither that state nor Arkansas had him listed on its registry.

The affidavit does not include the circumstances of Crawford's arrest. He was wearing street clothes, rather than a jail uniform, during his Thursday court appearance, suggesting he was only recently taken into custody.

Crawford has a 1998 conviction in Worland for third-degree sexual assault. Six years ago, he was convicted in Casper of indecent acts with a minor.

In the latter case, he received a three- to five-year prison sentence, according to the Wyoming Department of Corrections. He was apparently paroled in January 2007.

Crawford remains held at Natrona County Detention Center.
