Do you know, and will you share: Who exactly owns the land the library wants to buy? Where exactly is the land located? What is the price being discussed for the land?

The Star-Tribune's city reporter, Christine Robinson, is a library-project guru. She's written countless stories about all aspects of the project, and shared the answers to these questions in a succinct manner.

The land the library wants to buy is owned by Casper Redevelopment Company, LLC.

It's an 8.8-acre lot located between the North Platte River, First Street and downtown. The exact address is 435 W. First St., and you may recognize it as the former American Pipeyard, a large, flat open area just off the street.

The purchase price is roughly $3.8 million, Robinson said.

Can you look into what's up with the big hole in the Events Center roof? Seems like it's taking an inordinate amount of time to repair and I find it embarrassing as a citizen of Casper that our most prominent city-owned structure looks so bad.

The oh-so-noticeable-no-matter-where-you-are-in-town roof will be fixed, and soon, according to Public Services Director Gary Clough, since the Casper City Council approved a request to hire GSG Architecture to design a new roof for the old, leaky, hole-ridden version.

According to yet another story by city reporter Christine Robinson, the flat section of the roof is made of gravel, which doesn't survive well through the harsh Wyoming winters. Part of the new design plan will have the flat section constructed out of a membrane material, which should last longer.

The council budgeted $500,000 for the work.

Clough said in August that he hoped to have the roof replaced before upcoming winter snow storms, so it can't be long now. Judging by the mid-October blizzard, winter in Wyoming isn't too far away.
