KW seniors win contest
Kelly Walsh High School seniors Paul Bonifas and Jordan Merback won the Ethics Scholarship essay contest sponsored by the Better Business Bureau and the Casper Rotary Club.
Bonifas placed first and received a $1,000 scholarship. His entry was forwarded to the Rocky Mountain Regional Better Business Bureau for entry into the regional contest. That winner receives a $5,000 academic award.
Merback placed second and received a $500 scholarship.
Tech N9ne, Paul Wall come to Casper
Tech N9ne and Paul Wall will perform at 7:30 p.m. on May 22 at the Casper Events Center. Ill Bill will also perform at the concert.
Tech N9ne released "Everready (The Religion) is 2006 and the album debuted at number two on Billboard's top independent album chart. The rapper's follow-up to that album, "Killer," will be release on July 1.
Paul Wall enjoyed similar success with "The People's Champ" and "Get Money Stay True." He plans to release his seventh album, "The Fast Life," this fall.
Tickets go on sale on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Casper Events Center Box Office and cost $25 for reserved seating in the stands and general admission on the floor. Tickets can be charged by phone at (307) 577-3030 or (800) 442-2256 or online at www.caspereventscenter.com.
College hosts wage workshop
Casper College and The WAGE Project will host a wage negotiation workshop, "Start Smart," from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday in the Black Box Theater, which is located on the south side of Gertrude Krampert Theater.
Recent statistics suggest female college graduates earn $1.2 million less than their male peers, according to a release from the college. Men and women are encouraged to attend.
The workshop "will show participants how to benchmark salary ranges in their field and negotiate for the salary they want," said Janet de Vries, director of the college's Career Center.
