Woman sent to prison for violating terms of probation

A Casper woman sentenced in April to five years of supervised probation for credit card fraud was sentenced this week to three years behind bars for violating the terms of her probation.

Gerri Kaye Luers, 50, admitted in court Wednesday to not completing a probation class she was assigned to and to being terminated from Adult Community Corrections - both of which were parts of her probation sentence.

Luers asked Natrona County District Judge Thomas Sullins on Wednesday for another shot at probation.

Sullins, before handing down the prison sentence, said he remembered deciding between probation and prison in April. He called that decision "borderline."

Luers, a former receptionist for the Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, pleaded guilty to credit card fraud in January. She admitted to opening a credit card account in her boss' name and charging roughly $22,000 on it.

Man pleads guilty to cocaine conspiracy

A 24-year-old Colorado man pleaded guilty in Natrona County District Court on Friday to conspiracy to deliver cocaine.

In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dismissed a delivery of cocaine charge against Alejandro Orozco.

Prosecutors will recommend a prison term of four to six years as part of the plea agreement.

Orozco's cousin, Edmundo Orozco, pleaded guilty Tuesday to delivery of a controlled substance. He faces up to 20 years behind bars.

Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation agents arrested the cousins in September at the Ranch House Motel after learning about an alleged drug deal, according to DCI.

Both men spoke with investigators following their arrests. Alejandro Orozco - who agents discovered $7,500 on - said his cousin offered him $100 to $200 to travel to Casper with him. He suspected his cousin picked up the cocaine at a home in Commerce City, Colo., where Edmundo resides.

Alejandro Orozco, of Thornton, Colo., remains in the Natrona County Detention Center awaiting sentencing.
