A man dressed in black robbed CY Liquors at gunpoint Thursday night, Casper police said.

The man, whose face was covered, threatened a clerk with a handgun, according to Sgt. Mark Trimble. He fled afterward and remained at large Friday afternoon.

The store, on the 800 block of CY Avenue, was robbed at about 10:30 p.m. No one was injured.

About an hour later, officers checking local convenience stores for the robbery suspect found a man wearing a black shirt and a black hat sitting inside a parked car near a gas station on East Second Street. He was eventually cleared of the robbery, but faces drug possession charges after police say they found suspected marijuana and methamphetamine residue on items in his car.

The robbery is the first in the Casper area since an armed thief stole about $200 from an Evansville Loaf 'N Jug in June. Two men have been charged in connection with that crime.
