Summer school registration set

Registration for Natrona County School District's summer semester will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., May 18-29, at the Fairgrounds Center, 2000 Casper St.

A copy of the schedule is available at natronaschools.org.

Tuition is $20 per class per semester and payment is due at registration. Payments are non-refundable. If a student is under 18, a parent or guardian must sign the registration form. Daily attendance is mandatory.

Busing, breakfast and lunch are provided for grades 9-12.

Planetarium offers camp

It's time again to sign up for summer astronomy camp at the Casper Planetarium. Students will gain tools to observe and investigate the sun, stars, solar system and beyond.

New this year for older campers is a computer animation camp. Seating is limited to six students. Campers will learn about animation and create their own movies.

NCHS group meets May 12

The Natrona County High School Parent-Teacher-Student Association will meet Wednesday at noon in the NCHS library.

Bernie Ourth will demonstrate the new camera security system, and principal Dean Kelly will speak about staff and hiring for the next school year.

WMC will hold stroke forum

Dr. David Wheeler, medical director of the Wyoming Medical Center stroke program, will present a free community forum on stroke, Thursday, from noon to 1:00 p.m., in the Auditoriums of the Support Services Building, Wyoming Medical Center.

Dr. Wheeler will address risk factors, warning signs, treatment and prevention of stroke.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States and the leading cause of adult disability.

NCSD plans book discard

The Natrona County School District will hold its annual book discard from June 1-5, according to a press release.

District teachers, home-school families and private school staff members will have first access to the book discard from noon to 6 p.m. on June 1 and from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 2. The public is invited to the discard from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 3-5. The book discard will be held in the Jefferson and East rooms (formerly the board room and board conference room) at the district's Central Services facility, 970 N. Glenn Rd. in Casper.

Hospice will hold day camp

Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions will hold its fifth annual day camp for kids and teens June 18-19, according to a press release.

The camp is for children and teens ages 6 to 16 who have experienced the death of someone important in their lives. Campers will have the opportunity to process their loss through play and the support of caring adults.

The camp is free of charge and open to any child who has experienced a loss through death.
