Committee schedules Casper meeting

The Joint Judiciary Interim Committee will meet at 9 a.m. on Dec. 4 and 5 at the Casper Game & Fish office, 3030 Energy Lane, according to a release.

Legislators will consider draft legislation relating to the judicial appointment process, sex offender registration, child support enforcement and carbon capture and sequestration. The committee will also receive reports on various topics relating to committee studies.

Individuals who plan to provide written information to the committee during the meeting should bring sufficient copies of the information for members of the committee, committee staff members, and interested members of the audience, as well as an electronic copy of materials.

Events Center closes for holiday

The Casper Events Center's administrative office and box office will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend beginning Wednesday, according to a release.

Rocky Mountain Power will install an automatic switch gear, which will allow the Events Center to have redundant electrical service from the south substation or the Bryan Stock Trail substation. Rocky Mountain Power will maintain the new equipment.

The gear will allow two separate substations to feed the Events Center and for additional power sources for emergencies.

The Events Center returns to normal hours on Dec. 1.

Officials plan anniversary campaign

The 10th anniversary of the "You Drink and Drive, You Lose" holiday campaign is scheduled for noon on Tuesday at the parking of Swede Erickson Thunderbird Gym at Casper College, according to a release.

The group's goal is "zero fatalities in Natrona County due to alcohol related crashes this holiday season."

Holidays prompt closings at Nic

The Nicolaysen Art Museum and Discovery Center, as well as The Museum Shop at the Nic, will be closed several days during the remainder of the year, according to a release.

The facility will be closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving. It will also be closed Dec. 25-29 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1.

Wagon Wheel celebrates 60 years

Wagon Wheel Roller Skating will celebrate "60 Years Of Memories" with a skate day from noon to 11 p.m. on Dec. 13 and a visit and dance day without skating from 3 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 14, according to a release.

Admission is free with memory ticket forms. Form are available at The Wagon Wheel or online at www.wwskate.com or www.casperwyomihg.info.

Organizers are also compiling a memory book as part of the event.

Clear fines by donating food

Natrona County Public Library has teamed with Joshua's Storehouse to continue its "Food for Fines" program Nov. 30 through Dec. 14, according to a release.

Food for Fines offers the opportunity for families who haven't been able to use the library because of fines to return by donating food for Joshua's Storehouse.

Patrons can bring one or several items of nonperishable food to any library branch or the bookmobile to clear accounts of fines on overdue books, movies, and other library materials. Community members who have no fines, but want to donate canned food, are welcome to join in.

Canned food can also be used to pay for replacement library cards. Collection accounts and charges for missing or damaged items do not apply to this program.
