Meat sale benefits college
The Casper College Agriculture Department has four steers remaining from its meat sale, according to a release from the college. The department uses the animals for teaching purposes and the proceeds from the sale help support the department.
Lambs and hogs were originally available but have since sold out.
The beef is priced at $1 per pound and does not include processing fees. Steers can be purchased whole, half or quarter, according to agriculture instructor Heath Hornecker.
"The beef were raised by 4-H youth in Nebraska and have been in our possession for 35 days and have not received antibiotics or hormones while in our care," said Hornecker.
The live animals are purchased from the Agriculture Department, which then delivers the animals to Kompac Meat Processing.

Fire officials warn of scam
Local fire officials are warning the public of a phone scam by someone claiming to be collecting donations for severely burned Wyoming children.
The person seeking the donations claims he is a firefighter with "Firefighters of Wyoming." Officials checked with the Better Business Bureau, the Wyoming State Fire Marshal's Office and local fire departments and don't believe such an organization exists, according to a news release from the Natrona County Fire District.
On a phone equipped with caller ID, the person soliciting donations will come up as a private caller.
Officials found out about the scam Tuesday night, said county fire district Inspector Mike Lindahl. He is not sure how many people have received the calls so far.
Fund drives for burns victims have been held in Natrona County, but those were designed for a specific person.
