The Natrona County school board tonight will consider a recommendation to accept a donation from Big Wyoming for use in the Kelly Walsh High School automotive department. A total of $39,670 worth of GM auto parts were donated by Big Wyoming in December to help train students enrolled in auto shop classes.

The board will recognize students from the ProStart Culinary Program, who were winners at a recent state culinary competition. University Park Elementary will also be recognized for being named a 2008 National Title l Distinguished School.

The school enrolls 235 students in preschool through fifth grade, about half of which are at the poverty level. University Park receives Title I funds to help those students meet target education benchmarks.

At its last meeting, the board decided to move ahead with kindergarten enrollment recommendations made by an Interest-Based Agreement Process group. The only exception to the recommendations allowed Woods Learning Center to retain its right to offer enrollment preference for children of staff members, according to a 1991 board policy.

The board's regular session begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Natrona County School District's central office, located at 970 N. Glenn Rd. The public is welcome to attend.
