United Blood Services of Casper schedules September blood drives

Approximately 80 percent of the population will need blood at some point in their lives, and United Blood Services of Casper wants to make sure there is enough blood to go around.

People can donate at the center at 167 S. Conwell St. from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays or from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Donors can also attend one of the blood drives United Blood Services has scheduled in Casper for September:

- Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Fire Hall in Glendo, 204 S. Yellowstone St.

- Sept. 8 from noon to 6 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Riverton, 1116 W. Park Ave.

- Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon at United Methodist Church in Riverton.

- Sept. 10 from noon to 6 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lander, 860 S. Third St.

- Sept. 11 from noon to 5:30 p.m. at Headwaters Center in Dubois, 20 Stalnaker St.

- Sept. 15 from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Moose Lodge in Douglas, 120 N. Second St.

- Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon at Moose Lodge in Douglas.

- Sept. 17 from 8 a.m to 11 a.m. at True Companies in Casper, 895 West River Road

- Sept. 18 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Federal Employee Building in Casper, 100 E. B St.

- Sept. 22 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Thermopolis Senior Center, 206 Senior Ave.

- Sept. 23 from 1 p.m to 6 p.m. at the Worland Senior Center, 326 N. 11th St.

- Sept. 24 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Mountain View Assembly in Ten Sleep, 501 Second St.

- Sept. 25 from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Halliburton Energy Services in Evansville, 6900 Nugget Road

- Sept. 29 from noon to 4 p.m. at Wyoming Medical Center Auditorium A, 1200 E. Second St.

- Sept. 30 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Guns and Hoses Blood Drive, 601 SE Wyoming Blvd.

Library hosts after school programs

"After School @ the Library" returns for the school year at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, and will occur at 4 p.m. each Wednesday at the main library. Monthly events will be held at the Mills branch library as well.

September begins with a "Prelutsky Party," celebrating Jack Prelutsky's poetry and popular children's books Wednesday in the library's Crawford Room. Elementary students can play "Bingo! Bingo!" on Sept. 10. The Mills Branch Library will host its own "Bingo! Bingo!" at 4 p.m. on Sept. 11 for elementary students.

On Sept. 17, elementary students will construct "Hovercrafts" in the Crawford room, followed by "PANDAmonium" on Sept. 24 where elementary students will explore fascinating facts about the giant pandas.

Nic closes for holiday

The Nicolaysen Art Museum and Discovery Center's business office will be closed on Monday for Labor Day.

In addition, "Preschool Picassos," the Discovery Center's regular Monday afternoon program for preschool-aged children, will not be held that day.

The Nic will resume its regular hours - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday - on Tuesday.
