The Natrona County school board will review a list of budget recommendations at its meeting tonight, which will be held at Midwest School.

The list of special recommendations includes $300,000 in ongoing funds for Natrona County High School's ninth-grade program. The list also includes ongoing funding for two staff members at Midwest School for a total of $159,110.

The district's Compact Issues Committee has also included a list of recommendations, including honoring salary steps for employees, who will be asked to pick up $50 of their monthly insurance costs.

In total, the CIC recommended spending more than $2 million for employee insurance and about $1.7 million on education and experience salary steps for employees.

In other business, board members will vote whether to accept an intermediate guaranteed maximum price for the new eastside elementary school totaling $14.7 million. That amount covers all construction costs related to the school and is $58,000 under the amount funded by the Wyoming School Facilities Commission.

Board members will also vote on hiring Kelly Hornby, principal of Buffalo High School, for the position of executive director of human resources, and appointing Lynn Kahler to continue serving as principal of Sagewood Elementary.

In addition, board members will vote on asking Superintendent Joel Dvorak to take action on a petition submitted by 12 parents and community members from Midwest and Edgerton.

Details of the petition were not included in the board packet because it deals with personnel issues, which are not generally made public.

Board members will first hear an update on Midwest's progress at 6:30 p.m. and then move into their general session at 7:30 p.m. Midwest School is located at 245 Lewis St.
