The body of a Casper man who died earlier this week in a fishing accident on Tunnel Creek in Albany County was recovered Thursday, according to a news release from the Albany County Sheriff's Office.
Dennis Barber, 67, and his brother Robert were fishing in Tunnel Creek when Robert realized his brother had disappeared about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Robert had to travel several miles on foot to find help and contacted the sheriff's office, which dispatched a rescue team.
High water and swift currents in the creek delayed the search, and several water gates had to be temporarily closed to reduce the flow of water.
Rescue teams found the body on Thursday, and a helicopter was summoned to assist in the body's recovery.
The sheriff's office has determined the death was accidental. No other details were released.
The sheriff's office was assisted by Albany County Search and Rescue, the Platte County Sheriff's Office, Platte County Search and Rescue, the Laramie and Carbon County Sheriff's offices and the Regional Emergency Response Team Two from the Casper Fire Department.
