Annual event features many new artists

The Nicolaysen Art Museum & Discovery Center's 15th annual November Art Show and Sale will offer works by 23 artists who have never participated in the show before, according to Val Kulhavy, the museum's director of administrative services.

The three-day show and sale - set for Thursday through Saturday - will feature paintings, sculptures, pottery, jewelry, glass works, fiber art and fine-art photography by more than 60 artists from throughout the region.

The event kicks off with a special preview night from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, dubbed "Hot Jazz & Cool Art." Tickets for event, which are available now at the NIC, are $15 for museum members and $20 for nonmembers, and also include admission on Friday and Saturday.

The Nic's doors open at 11 a.m. on Friday, and a cash bar and light hors d'oeuvres will be available from 5 to 8 p.m.

On Saturday, the show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Daily admission for Friday and Saturday will be $3 at the door, but if you want to bring a group of family and friends the museum will also be offering four daily admissions for $10.

Hobart plans visit to Fort Caspar

Hobart, the mascot from the Casper Ghosts, will visit kindergartners at Fort Caspar Academy at 9 a.m. on Nov. 20, in the gym, according to a release.

Hobart will help students celebrate reading during the school's annual Celebrity Readers Day.

Aquatic Center hosts 'Late Night'

The Casper Family Aquatic Center will host "Late Night" for students in grades 8 through 12 from 8 to 11 p.m. on Friday at the aquatic center, according to a release.

Admission is free, and there will also be free pop and pizza. Music and door prizes will be provided throughout the event. Participants need to bring their swimwear to partake in the water events.

Students should bring their school identification card to the event.

CY looks for parent group members

Parent Connections, CY Junior High's parent advisory group, will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 11.

Any parent that has a student attending CY may participate and is invited to become a member of this group. Meetings are from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. Lunch is provided.
