The American Red Cross opened an emergency shelter at Casper College on Thursday to accommodate travelers stranded in Casper by the stormy weather.
"Hotels are gradually starting to fill up," said Helen Viera, Natrona County branch manager for the Red Cross. "We're trying to do the coordination to accommodate people who need a place to sleep tonight."
Viera said Casper is becoming a bottleneck for stranded travelers unable to drive to the Denver or Cheyenne area.
The shelter is at the Casper College's gymnasium by the administration building. It can hold up to 100 people.
